Terry Cherry

Senior Police Officer Terry Cherry has been with the Charleston Police Department in Charleston, South Carolina, for over eleven years and is currently serving as the agency’s recruiter. In 2020, SPO Cherry was selected as an NIJ LEADS scholar and was the recipient of IACP’s 40 under 40. She recently served on the working group for the National Policing Institute’s Council for Police Reforms and Race and is an active National Policing Institute Fellow. SPO Cherry is recognized as a national expert in police recruitment and retention and has been published in various academic journals, IACP Police Chief Magazine, and Police1. Senior Police Officer Cherry holds a BA from UCLA, an MBA from Pepperdine University and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Public Administration from Valdosta State Universtiy.
